Statement of Faculty Senate Action:
APC Document 41: Change in course description for HF 120, addition of HF 130 and 131
Delete: On pg 118, the course number, title and description for HF 120
Add: On pg 118, after HF 215, Intermediate Tennis (1)
Courses in Health and Fitness
120 The Physical Self (1)
Study of health as influenced by individual behavior and choices. Physical Fitness,
nutrition, stress, emotional processes, self-concept, and well-being. Measurements
of individual fitness levels, health habits. A student cannot receive credit for HF
120 if taken simultaneously with or subsequent to HF 153. A student will receive
credit for both courses if HF 120 is taken prior to HF 153. Fall and Spring.
Impact: None
Rationale: If a student wishes to take both HF 153 and HF 120, that student must take HF 120, the more general course first to receive credit for the course. This information should have been located in the course description rather than in the departmental narrative.
Add: On pg 118, the following to list of Skills Development Options:
130 Tai Chi (1)
131 Yoga (1)
Impact: Insignificant.
Rationale: Since these two courses are now listed as being elective options for the Dance minor, and since they have been offered for more than three semesters consecutively, they are being renumbered and instated as full courses.
