Add: On pg 86
CSCI 115 Software Tools for Engineers (1)
Fundamentals of the NC State University EOS System. Software and services
available on the system. Network hardware configuration, on-line help and
communication, file and directory manipulation. Software applications such as email,
publishing packages, spreadsheets, mathematical packages, CAD packages. This
course satisfies the E 115 requirement in NCSU engineering curricula. Fall.
Impact:
The addition of CSCI 115 in the course catalog provides a permanent transferrable course
equivalent to E115, a required course for all engineering students at NCSU. This course is
required in the BSE - Mechatronics Concentration curriculum as well as all Two-Plus-Two
curricula.
No other UNCA departments will be affected. This addition is being made at the request of the NCSU Engineering Programs Office.
No additional staffing or facilities are anticipated.
Rationale:
This course has been offered for the last 4 years as a CSCI 171: Special Topics course.
It has become a standard and necessary course offering for engineering students and
should be included in the UNCA catalog in a permanent fashion.
