Statement of Faculty Senate Action:
Effective Date: Fall 1999
Delete: on p. 154, the following paragraph
Minor Course Work: The 21 hours will be distributed as follows: ACCT 201, ECON 101 or 102; MGMT 220, 300 or 340; and 9 additional hours. The 9 additional hours will provide program focus and must be approved prior to declaring a minor in management. Six of these 9 hours must be 300 level or above.
Replace: with the following
Minor Course Work: The 21 hours will be distributed as follows: ACCT 201; MGMT 220, 300; and 12 additional hours within the Department at the 300 level or above. The 12 additional hours will provide program focus and must be approved prior to declaring a minor in management.
Impact: Removing the ECON courses from the minor will have little impact on enrollment in these courses; however, this change will focus the minor on Management-related topics. The change of all the additional hours at the 300 level or above will strengthen the minor.
Rationale: Currently, as written, the minor in Management does not require a focus or emphasis on Management as a minor should. Changing the requirements as stated above will require students minoring in Management to be exposed to a broader survey of relevant Management courses.
