Statement of Faculty Senate Action:
Effective Date Fall 1999
Delete: on page 125, in the section titled "Elective Skill Development Options...", the last line of the second part which reads
HF 171,271 Special Topics in Physical Education (1)
Add: on page 127, after the course description for 459 Senior Seminar in Health Promotion description, the following:
171-6, 271-6, 371-6, 471-6 Special Topics in Health and Fitness (1-6)
Courses not otherwise included in the catalog listing but for which there may be special needs. (HF 171 and HF 271 are graded S/U).
Impact: This change requires no concurrences from other departments, nor will it affect this department's future staffing needs.
Rationale: This change will allow the Department of Health and Fitness to offer a variety of special topics courses. If a course, over several semesters, proves to fill a valuable niche in the curriculum, a request will be made to include it in the catalog. The S/U grade for 171 and 271 is consistent with our current practice of using those grades in activity courses.
