Election Procedures for Post-Tenure Review Committee

In the Policy on Post-Tenure Review, section 10.2.6.2, add after the first paragraph which ends "...first faculty meeting of the academic year.":

ADD

"Faculty who are scheduled to be reviewed within the next two years will be removed from the PTRC ballot."

RATIONALE

Faculty who are up for PTR review cannot review themselves. Instead of delaying their review, which is to occur every five years by GA mandate and the UNCA policy, faculty should be reviewed on schedule. Faculty are therefore ineligible to serve on the committee during the year in which they will be reviewed. Their names should be removed from the ballot prior to the election of the committee.

DELETE

The third paragraph reading:

"In the first year of the election to the PTRC, the two members with the lowest number of votes will serve a one year term. The remaining members will serve two year terms."

RATIONALE

Because faculty who were to be reviewed were elected to the committee, the deleted procedure could not be followed. Further, it referred only to a process which was to occur in the first year of the formation of the committee. This period has passed and it is not necessary to include this information in the policy.
