Recipients of the award will be listed in the UNCA catalog in a section describing the Ruth & Leon Feldman Professorship Fund. Money from the Ruth & Leon Feldman Fund shall not be used to support the UNCA Distinguished Teacher Award. PROPOSED CHANGES: 1) In section I. Nomination: Delete: "February 1" Replace with: "a published deadline". Rationale: The choice of a particular deadline is best left to the discretion of the current review committee. 2) In section II. Review of Nominations: In second paragraph, delete: "elect their own chairmen and serve one year term from January 1 to December 31". Replace with: "serve two year terms. A Chair shall be elected from within the committee each year." Rationale: Feldman Committee members currently serve two year terms. 3) In section II. Review of Nominations: Add the following at the end of the third paragraph: "In addition to nominations received during the current year, the review committee may also consider nominations received during previous years as well as candidates which originate from within the committee deliberations." Rationale: Item 3 clarifies the procedures by which the review committee identifies candidates for the award.
