Statement
of Faculty Senate Action:
APC Document 1: Adding
new course, ECON 355
Effective Date: Fall 2007
1. Add: On pg 107, new
course, ECON 355
355 Open Economy
Macroeconomics (3)
A modern macroeconomic framework is developed and
used to understand some of the most pressing issues the global economy faces,
including those regarding trade imbalances, international capital movements,
international financial crises, exchange rate regimes, and reform of the
international financial architecture. Prerequisites: ECON 101, 102. Even years Spring.
Impact: The impact will be
minimal. Dr. Tatum successfully taught this class as ECON 373 in Spring 2006,
with 19 students. This class will be part of his regular course offerings.
Rationale: Interest in international economic issues is
increasing among our students; this class adds an additional option in
international economics to our curriculum and draws upon the expertise of our
faculty. This course will also be
included as an option in the International Studies concentration of IST in a
later document from Linda Cornett, director of the International Studies
program.
