Statement
of Faculty Senate Action:
Effective Date: Fall 2006
1. Delete: On pg. 161, under General Requirements for Industrial and Engineering Management:
I. Required courses in the major-30 hours: MGMT
220, 350, 380, 381, 384, 386, 394, 460,
487, 492.
II. Required
courses outside the major-47 hours: ACCT 215; CHEM 111, 132, 144;
ECON 102, 306; MAE 206, 314; MATH 191, 192, 291; PHYS 221,
222; STAT 225
III. Management Cognate electives - 6 hours as
follows: one course chosen from each of
the following two
groups - Group I: (Statistics) STAT 321,
325, 326 or 327; Group II:
(General) any 300-400-level
course as approved by the faculty advisor.
Add: On pg. 161, in place of
deleted entry:
I.
Required courses in the major-30 hours: MGMT 220, 350, 380, 381, 384,
386, 460, 464,
487, 492.
II. Required courses outside the major-50 hours:
ACCT 215; CHEM 111, 132, 144; ECON 102, 306; MAE 206, 314; MSE 201; MATH 191,
192, 291; PHYS 221, 222; STAT 225.
III. Management Cognate elective
- 3 hours chosen from STAT 321, 325, 326 or 327.
Impact: Requiring MSE 201, Structure and Properties of Engineering
Materials will increase the enrollment in the course by approximately three
students each semester the course is offered.
Industrial and Engineering Management majors will need to successfully
complete CHEM 132 earlier in their academic program of study in order to take
MSE 201. This addition will not increase the number of hours for the major,
since the Group II cognate elective is being removed.
Rationale: MAE 314 Solid Mechanics is essential to the Industrial and
Engineering Management Program. Since
MSE 201 is now a prerequisite for MAE 314, the change had to be made to include
it as a required course. The number
change for Project Management, MGMT 394 to 464, necessitates the editorial
change to Item I.
