Statement of Faculty Senate Action:

APC Document 22:                               Changes to Women’s Studies Elective Options

                                                            Change Title of WMST 365

Effective Date:  Fall 2006

1.  Delete:        On pg 222, from the list under Gender, Sexuality, Race and Class:

ANTH 361 and SOC 390

Add:            On pg. 222, to the list under Social Sciences/Natural Sciences:

ANTH 361 and SOC 390

Impact: None

Rationale:  Moving these courses out of the Gender, Sexuality, Race, and Class section and into the Social Sciences section enables us to clarify the differences between the three categories of the distribution requirement, where the first two include courses explicitly focused on women/gender and the third includes related courses.

2.  Add:            On pg. 222, to the list under Gender, Sexuality, Race, and Class:

ANTH    425       Manhood and Masculinities (3)

HWP    253       Health and Sexuality (3)

     Impact: None

Rationale: Adding these courses to the list increases the options for Women’s Studies majors and

     minors.

3.  Delete:        On pg. 222, the title for WMST 365:

Feminist Theory (Phil 365) (3)

Add:            On pg. 222, in place of deleted entry:

Interdisciplinary Approaches to Feminist Theory  (3)

Impact: None

Rationale:  Changing the title and removing the cross-listing distinguishes WMST 365 from Phil 365 with the former being more interdisciplinary.
