Statement
of Faculty Senate Action:
Ethics and Social Institutions
Effective Date: Fall 2005
1) Delete:
In
Catalog 2004-05, on p. 139, entry II.
Replace with:
II. A
specific statement as to how major, oral, and computer competency will be
demonstrated and a description of the paper or project which will serve as the
capstone experience.
2) Delete:
In
Catalog 2004-05, on p. 140, entry III.
Replace with:
III. Other concentration requirements—Senior
demonstration of major, oral, and computer competency is met by successful
completion of ESI 490 with a grade of C or higher.
Impact: None.
Rationale:
Individual
Degree students are expected to be intentional about their degree program, and
have always been expected to indicate how major and oral competency
are expected to be demonstrated.
This merely adds computer competency to the list.
Ethics
and Social Institutions majors complete a substantial research paper in ESI 490
which includes literature review, word processing, and perhaps quantitative
analysis, as appropriate. These skills
constitute competency for these students.
