Statement of Faculty Senate Action:
APC Document 30: Change in course title and description for MGMT 394
Effective Date: Fall 2004
Delete: On page 160, the title and description for MGMT 394
Add: On page 160, in place of the deleted entry:
394 Project Management (3)
Principles and concepts of project management as they relate to the quantitative skills of
PERT, CPM and other network methods of scheduling projects. Course will emphasize the
integration of qualitative and quantitative skills through a class project. Computer-aided as
well as manual approaches to these topics are presented. Prerequisites: STAT 185 or 225.
Even years Spring.
Impact: This change has no impact on the department's majors or minors, the university's requirements, or future departmental course offerings.
Rationale: The scope of project management has increased to the degree that material extraneous to that subject area cannot be adequately covered within a 3-hour course. Expanding the health and safety modules (currently contained in MGMT 394) into other courses is a more viable option. Removing the MGMT 220 prerequisite will also encourage students outside the department who have an interest in managing one time unique projects, such as Art, Drama, Multi-Media, etc. to enroll in the course.
