Statement of Faculty Senate Action:
APC Document 59: Prerequisites for BIOL 210, 211
Effective Date: Fall 2003
1. On pg 70, make the following changes in prerequisites for the specified courses:
BIOL 210
Delete: Prerequisites: BIOL 115, 116; or permission of instructor.
Add Prerequisites: BIOL 115, 116 for BIOL majors; ENVR 241 for ENVR majors.
BIOL 211
Delete: Prerequisites: BIOL 115, 116; or permission of instructor.
Add: Prerequisites: BIOL 115, 116 for BIOL majors; ENVR 241 for ENVR majors.
Rationale:
If students in Environmental Studies are required to take BIOL 115 and 116 for the Ecology and
Field Biology Concentration, then overall hours required to complete the concentration will increase by eight
hours in introductory biology. This will increase degree requirements to over 40 hours in the concentration.
The Department of Biology concurs that ENVR 241 will provide an appropriate foundation for BIOL 210 and
211 for students majoring in Environmental Studies.
