Impact Statement
These changes greatly impact the day-to-day operation within the Department of Chemistry because of the
inability of the pre- and corequisites checking software to handle or statements. This has necessitated the
elimination of MATH prerequisites for CHEM 132 and 144. These courses typically have enrollments totaling
greater than 275 students annually. Any MATH prerequisite would result in having to admit upwards of 125 of
students manually or the expense of resources for the administration and evaluation of an entrance exam.
Rationale
These changes are the result of an APC mandate and have been made to minimize student difficulty when
enrolling in courses.
