Statement of Faculty Senate Action:

APC Document 28: Deletion of ATMS 115 and 303

Effective Date: Fall 2003

1. Delete: On pg 65, entry for ATMS 115

Impact:
No impact to ATMS course offerings and UNCA General Natural Sciences requirements.

Rationale:
This course is not required by ATMS majors, and it does not fulfill the UNCA General Natural Sciences requirements for non-science majors. It was last offered in Spring 2000 with only 7 students. With a constraint of limited resources in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences, we will not offer this course in the future, and we propose to delete this course from the catalog.

2. Delete: On pg 66, entry for ATMS 303

Impact:
No impact to ATMS course offerings and UNCA General Natural Sciences requirements.

Rationale:
This course is not required by ATMS majors, and it does not fulfill the UNCA General Natural Sciences requirements for non-science majors. It was last offered as ATMS 460 Agricultural Meteorology in Spring 1990 with 12 students. Currently the Department of Atmospheric Sciences does not have a faculty member with this expertise, and this course is not demanded by ATMS majors.
