Statement of Faculty Senate Action:

APC Document 24:   Revision of pre- and corequisites for MUSC 128, 129, 201, 202, 301, 302, 331, 332, 231, 232, 131, 293, 294, 351, 353, 357, 384, 385.

Effective Date: Fall 2003

#1 Delete: On pg. 175, prerequisite for MUSC 128:

Prerequisites: MUSC 192 (Applied Percussion) or equivalent and permission of instructor.

Add: On pg. 175, in place of deleted entry:

By audition.

Impact: None.

Rationale: Simply continuing existing audition procedure in place for over fifteen years. Also, removal of Applied Music prerequisite facilitates the recruitment of non-music majors to this ensemble while audition maintains same standards as other ensembles.


#2 Delete: On pg. 175, prerequisite for MUSC 129:

Permission of instructor.

Add: On pg. 175, in place of deleted entry:

Rationale: Simply clarifying existing audition procedure in place for over fifteen years previously implied by statement: "permission of instructor."

Rationale: Limitation of enrollment to specified majors is necessitated by high demand for course and limited physical plant and financial resources. Change in prerequisites for music majors due to requested change in requirements for declaration of music major discussed below.
