Statement of Faculty Senate Action:

APC Document 4:   Computer Competency Statement for Sociology

Effective Date: Fall 2003

DELETE: As listed in 2002-2003 Catalog, page 195 under heading Major in Sociology, delete all of item III, beginning "Other departmental requirements..." and ending with ". . .requirements in ANTH 451 or SOC 451."

ADD: "Other departmental requirements - Grade of C or better in ANTH 451 or SOC 451 satisfies the senior demonstration of competency and the demonstration of computer competency. Oral competency is demonstrated by successful completion of the oral presentation requirements in ANTH 451 or SOC 451."

DELETE: As listed in 2002-2003 Catalog, page 196 under heading Sociology with Teacher Licensure, delete all of item III, beginning "Other departmental requirements..." and ending with "...both senor competency and oral competency."

ADD: "Other departmental requirements - Grade of C or better in ANTH 451 or SOC 451 satisfies the senior demonstration of competency and the demonstration of computer competency. Oral competency is demonstrated by successful completion of the oral presentation requirements in ANTH 451 or SOC 451."

IMPACT STATEMENT: There is no impact on the Sociology curriculum as the courses are already required of students and they are already displaying computer competency in the course.

RATIONALE: This change meets the SACS requirement in the manner decided by the Senate.
