Impact Statement:

There will be no added faculty resources needed for this change. The courses in the minor are already being offered in the fall and spring. The impact is in streamlining the overall requirements for the minor, thereby helping students to complete the minor in a timely manner.

Rationale:

By refocusing and streamlining the requirements for the minor, the curriculum can be delivered more effectively and efficiently, while simultaneously helping students complete the requirements for the minor prior to graduation. There is a growing student interest in the Asian Studies minor. Removing required core courses, and allowing those courses to be chosen as part of a list of options, provides the necessary flexibility to make this interdisciplinary minor more sustainable into the future, while still providing exciting learning opportunities for our students.
