Statement
of Faculty Senate Action:
APC Document
50: Reduce
credit hours and change semester offered for DRAM 144;
Reduce credit hours
for major in Drama
Effective Date: Fall 2009
1. Delete: On page
115, the entry for DRAM 144:
144 Playscript
Analysis for Performance (3)
Introduction to the techniques of script analysis for the
theatre practitioner. Instruction will focus on plays drawn from a variety of
eras. Fall and Spring.
Add: On
page 115, in place of deleted entry:
144 Playscript
Analysis for Performance (2)
Introduction to the techniques of script analysis for the
theatre practitioner. Instruction will focus on plays drawn from a variety of
eras. Fall.
Impact:
This change to a course required of all Drama majors
will reduce the number of hours in the major by 1 credit. Staffing requirements
within the department will not change.
Rationale:
After teaching this course for several years, the department
has come to the conclusion that the content can be delivered successfully in a
more concise format. In addition, after experimenting with offering the course
every semester, we have come to the conclusion that the demand is not there –
this semester, only five students registered, and it had to be cancelled.
2. Delete: On page
113, under Requirements for all Drama majors:
I. Required courses in the
major—28 hours
Add: On page 115, in place of deleted
entry:
I. Required courses in the major—27
hours
Impact:
Students majoring in Drama will have one less
required hour.
Rationale:
Editorial changes to reflect reducing the credit
hours of DRAM 144.
