350       European Art of the 19th Century (3)

This course surveys the artistic developments in Europe from the emergence of Neo-Classicism in the late 18th century through the Post-Impressionist movements of the1880s and 1890s. Emphasis will be placed on the political, philosophical, and technological changes that marked this period of history and contributed to dramatic shifts in artistic style, subject matter, production methods and patronage. Odd years Spring.

Add:             On pg. 79, in place of deleted entry:

 350      Nineteenth Century Art (3)

This course surveys international artistic developments from the late 18th century through the turn of the 20th century. It emphasizes the political, philosophical, and technological changes that marked this period, contributing to dramatic shifts in artistic style, subject matter, production methods, and patronage. Odd years Spring.

Impact:

The course title and description are too specific and should include international art and architecture.

Rationale:

The course title and subsequent references to the course material should be changed in order that students are offered a wider range of 19th century art and architecture.
