This
course develops a student’s ability to engage in film scholarship. Students
hone writing skills through a series of papers focusing on different approaches
to film criticism, ranging from journalistic to more theoretical approaches. Prerequisite: MCOM 104; or permission of
instructor. Offered once per year.

Rationale:
This
course was overlooked when the department moved its skills courses to 4 credit
hours to accommodate an increase in their writing, design or video laboratory
component. The course has been meeting on a 4-hour basis. The revised
description better reflects the actual content and activities in the course.
