Effective Date: Fall 2008
1. Delete: On page 118, the description for EDUC 317:

Prerequisites: EDUC 310, 311. Fall and Spring.
Add: On page 118, in place of deleted entry:
Teaching the language arts (reading, writing, speaking and listening) in elementary school and middle school with emphasis on children’s language development including direct skills instruction, children’s literature, and integrated approaches to literacy teaching and assessment. Prerequisites: EDUC 310, 311. Fall and Spring.
Impact:
This change reflects the integration of the content of EDUC 318 into EDUC 317.
Rationale:
In assessing the impact of various programmatic and methodological changes, we have found that material from EDUC 318 is routinely covered in EDUC 317. Faculty teaching EDUC 317 have agreed to increase coverage of children’s literature, thereby reducing the program by one hour and eliminating redundancy.

Field experience in a public school is required. Prerequisites: EDUC 310, 311; HIST 101 or 102. Fall and Spring.
