Delete: on Page 198 the following paragraph discussing the description of Declaration of a major in Sociology. Declaring a major in Sociology requires the student to complete a Declaration of a Major that must be signed by the department chair. Before declaring a major, the student must satisfy the Lang 102 and Library Research requirements. Replace: with the following Declaring a major in Sociology requires the student to obtain a signed Declaration of a Major form from the chair of the Sociology Department. A major in Sociology may be formally declared after a student has: I. Satisfied LANG 102 and Library Research requirements. II. Completed both SOC 100 and SOC 225 with a grade of C or better. Impact Statement: Students will demonstrate a minimum background and proficiency in Sociology before pursing an in-depth study in the field. This change will not affect any other department or program and the offering of Soc 100 and Soc 225 will not change. Rationale: Students must have a basic sociological background to be certain this is the field of study they wish to pursue.
