APC Document 15: Catalog Changes in Math
Effective date: Fall, 1997
The following catalog changes are necessitated by the deletions
of MATH 104, Basic Mathematics, and MATH 105, Intermediate
Algebra, by the department of Mathematics. The former was
deleted in the fall of 1993 and the latter has been approved by
APC for deletion in 1997.

DELETE: Prerequisite: MATH 105 or higher.
ADD: Corequisite: MATH 163 or higher.
Page 95, under CSCI 141
DELETE: Prerequisite: MATH 104 or placement.
The department of Mathematics recommends the following change, a
more lenient policy toward granting advanced placement credit for
Calculus.
Effective date: Fall, 1997
Page 34, Mathematics
DELETE: Calculus AB 4,5 4 MATH 191
ADD: Calculus AB 3,4,5 4 MATH 191
Rationale
This change will put UNCA in line with other Universities in this
state. Presently all of the other 15 campuses of the UNC system
grant advanced placement credit for Calculus I (UNCA's MATH 191)
if the student received a 3 on the Calculus AB exam.
Impact
There will be a slight decrease in enrollment in MATH 191.
Coordination: Not applicable.
