THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT ASHEVILLE FACULTY SENATE Senate Document Number 3096S Date of Senate Approval 2/8/96 Statement of Faculty Senate Action: APC Document 28: Change in Industrial and Engineering Management (I&EM) Effective date: Fall 1996 Delete: In Catalog 1995-96, on page 154, paragraph II. under General Requirements for Industrial and Engineering Management, delete the following line; "II. Required courses outside the major 51 hours as follows: ACCT 218; CHEM 141, 142;" Add: In Catalog 1995-96, on page 154, paragraph II. under General Requirements for Industrial and Engineering Management, add the following line; "II. Required courses outside the major 50 hours as follows: ACCT 201; CHEM 111, 132, 144;" Impact Statement: No impact. Change is driven by the curriculum changes in Chemistry. The change in hours outside the major is due to the accounting change and not the chemistry change. Rationale: The Department of Chemistry has submitted a change in the basic chemistry courses which divides the two current courses into three separate courses. This change does not adversely impact on I&EM degree requirements. Student whose diagnostic tests results exempt them from taking CHEM 132 have the benefit of their program of study reduce to 121 hours. The Department of Management did support the Department of Chemistry change.
