Add: In Catalog 1995-96, on page 152, paragraph II. under General Requirements for Management, add the following sentence; "Demonstration of both oral and degree competency is fulfilled by obtaining a grade of "C" or better for the option listed above (I-c) and for the Senior Seminar (tracks)." Delete: In Catalog 1995-96, on page 154, paragraph IV. under General Requirements for Industrial and Engineering Management, delete the following sentence; "Other departmental requirements-Successful completion of MGMT 492 with a "C" or better satisfies the demonstration of competency requirement for the degree". Add: In Catalog 1995-96, on page 154, paragraph IV. under General Requirements for Industrial and Engineering Management, add the following sentence; "Other departmental requirements- Successful completion of MGMT 492 with a "C" or better satisfies both the demonstration of degree and oral competency requirements". "A student's oral competency will be determined by the evaluation of and appropriate feedback on an individual formal presentation". Add: In Catalog 1995-96, on page 162, under the course description for MGMT 492 Senior Design Project (3), Add the following sentence after "Prerequisites: senior standing and consent of sponsoring faculty". "A student's oral competency will be determined by the evaluation of and appropriate feedback on an individual formal presentation". Impact Statement: Department is currently conducting a teaching circle on oral competence. Prior to the 1996-97 academic year, the department will have established a common criteria for oral competency. As a minimum, expectations and evaluation criteria will be provided to students early in their program of study. Those courses identified for demonstration of oral competency (ACCT 340; MGMT 491, 493, 496, 497 498 and 499; and MGMT 492) for the bachelors degree in accounting, management and industrial and engineering management will require individual evaluation and appropriate feedback as prescribed by department policy. This change has no resource or curriculum impact on other departments. Rationale: The purpose of this curriculum change is to comply with the SACS identified oral competency shortcoming and APC Memorandum, dated 21 September 1995.
