THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT ASHEVILLE FACULTY SENATE Senate Document Number 2596S Date of Senate Approval 2/8/96 Statement of Faculty Senate Action: APC Document 23: Changes for Minor Requirement (Department of Management and Accountancy) Effective Date: Fall 1996 Delete: In the 1995-96 Catalog, on page 153, under the paragraph entitled "Minor in Management," delete the first sentence that reads: "Students majoring in any discipline outside the Management, Industrial and Engineering Management or Accounting fields may apply for entrance to the minor in Management." Add: In the 1995-96 Catalog, on page 153, under the paragraph entitled "Minor in Management," add the first sentence to read: "Students majoring in any discipline outside the Management or Industrial and Engineering Management fields may apply for entrance to the minor in Management." Impact: Allows Accounting majors to minor in Management. Does not affect other departments or exert a real impact on departmental resources. Rationale: The B.S. in Accounting is sufficiently different from the other degrees offered by the Management and Accountancy Department to allow those students pursuing this degree to minor in Management. Course overlap between the Accounting and Management degrees are minimal. Delete: In the 1995-96 Catalog, on page 153, under the paragraph entitled "Minor in Management," delete the last sentence that reads: "The minor requires a completion of 22 semester hours with a minimum of a 2.0 grade point average for the minor to appear on their graduation transcript." Add: In the 1995-96 Catalog, on page 153, under the paragraph entitled "Minor in Management," add the last sentence to read: "The minor requires a completion of 21 semester hours with a minimum of a 2.0 grade point average for the minor to appear on their graduation transcript." NOTE: The following change presumes the editorial change of reinserting the þMinor Course Workþ paragraph, which was inadvertently left out, back into the 1995-96 Catalog. Delete: In Catalog 1995-96, on page 153, in the paragraph entitled "Minor Course Work", delete the following words: "The 22 hours will be distributed as follows: ACCT 218," Add: In Catalog 1995-96, on page 153, in the paragraph entitled "Minor Course Work", add the following words immediately after the title "Minor Course Work:" "The 21 hours will be distributed as follows: ACCT 201," Impact: No impact on other departments or on departmental resources. Rationale: With the replacement of ACCT 218 by ACCT 201 and ACCT 202, only ACCT 201 is required of Management Majors; therefore only ACCT 201 will be required for Management Minors and the required number of hours for the minor drops from 22 to 21.
