THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT ASHEVILLE FACULTY SENATE Senate Document Number 1695S Date of Senate Approval 2/9/95 ----------------------------------------------------------------- Statement of Faculty Senate Action: APC Document #17: Deletion of PSYC 316 Effective Date: Fall 1995 Delete: Catalog entry for PSYC 316 Rationale: The content of PSYC 316 has been incorporated into two other Psychology courses: the information on achievement and aptitude testing has been incorporated into PSYC 220 (Educational Psychol- ogy), and the information on personality and personnel testing has been incorporated into our new course, PSYC 416 (Psychological Testing). The Psychology Department requested permission to delete PSYC 316 last year, but was unable to do so because it was required in the Education Department's certification programs in Mathematics and Science. The new proposal for revision of the Education Department's curriculum removes PSYC 316 as a requirement for Mathematics and Science certification students. It therefore may be deleted from the catalog. Impact statement: Deletion of PSYC 316 from the catalog completes the revision of the Psychology curriculum begun last year. The course is not required in any tracks or programs, and its content has been incorporated into other regularly offered Psychology classes (see "Rationale"). Statement of concurrence: The Education Department has been consulted regarding this change and has no objection to deletion of this course. Concurrence signed; original is in the APC permanent file.
