Experiential learning through hands-on projects. Topics covered include: Photographing artwork; writing a resume, artist statement, biography, cover letter, review of an exhibition; presentation and exhibition skills such as matting, framing, finishing, hanging, and lighting. Field trips to galleries, museums, and professional artists' studios are scheduled. Journals required. Prerequisites: Art 100, 101, 102, 103 or equivalent. Art 225 is recommended. Offered every even year in the fall semester. RATIONALE: Because Art students are receiving a pre-professional degree, we feel it is the Art Department's responsibility to offer a course in professional skills. High enrollment in this course both times it was offered as a Special Topics course reflects the student need and interest for this course. IMPACT: This change will have no impact outside the Art Department. The Art Department's future staffing needs and course offerings will also not be affected in any significant way.
