Statement of Faculty Senate Action:

                    APC Document # 7  "Catalog Changes in Physics"

Effective Date: Fall 1993 Catalog

Proposal:    Delete PHYS 104 and all references to it from the catalog.  Remove
PHYS 104 from the list of courses satisfying the 3 hour general education
requirement in natural science.

Delete: (pg. 157)
             104 Radioactivity and Society (3)

A course for the general student covering the basics of radioactivity,
including applications to issues of current interest.

Impact:      There is no impact to any department at UNCA.

Rationale:   This course has never been offered and will never be offered.  We
have tow other 3-hour general education courses which are heavily enrolled.  We
offer PHYS 101 Light and Visual Phenomena in the Spring, and PHYS 102 The
Physics of Sound and Music in the Fall.
