Statement of Faculty Senate Action:   


       APC Document #21:  Addition of Arts 310 Lab Courses



Effective Date:  1992-1993 Catalog


ADD: on p. 43  to the list of courses that may be substituted for
     the Laboratory portion of the Arts General Education
     requirement, the following courses.


     DRAM 216  Musical Theater Workshop      3 semester hours

     MCOM 303  Video Workshop                1 semester hour

     MUSC 125  Jazz Choir                    1 semester hour

     MUSC 216  Musical Theater Workshop      3 semester hours



ADD: on p. 43 at the end of the list, the following statement

     In addition, certain special topics courses, approved by the
     appropriate chair and the Director of the Arts program, may be
     designated as satisfying the requirement.



RATIONALE:

     The request for approval of the above courses is being made at
     this time as budget constraints for the coming academic year
     will seriously limit the number of scheduled offerings of arts
     laboratory classes.  

     After conversations with appropriate chairs, the Arts Director
     is satisfied that these courses satisfy the intent of the
     general education requirements which is to "generate artistic
     creation and aesthetic experience".
