Add: Page 183, course numbers to register students: Asheville Area Educational Consortium (AAEC) Degree-seeking students may enroll in courses at Mars Hill College and Warren Wilson College through the Asheville Area Educational Consortium. Credit hours and grades will be awarded by UNCA. UNCA students interested in cross-registering should contact the UNCA Registrar for approval and registration information. General guidelines for participation are outlined on page 54. 171-6, 271-6, 371-6, 471-6 Asheville Area Educational Consortium Courses. Course numbers and titles to be assigned based on the subject matter and the course level designated by the host institution. Rationale: The Asheville Area Educational Consortium was approved the Boards of Trustees of the member institutions last year and went into effect with the 1992 spring semester. Each member institution is responsible for implementing registration procedures to award credit to their students; currently, UNCA does not have a way to facilitate cross-registration or to track our participants. Our students must complete independent study contracts, which are laborious and require the sponsorship of a UNCA faculty member. Adding a course prefix of AAEC would allow us to register students directly with the host schools without the cumbersome paperwork now required and would allow us to historically track their participation in this program. Creating the AAEC prefix parallels the model developed for awarding UNCA students credit for courses offered through the Concert video network (MCNC).
