THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT ASHEVILLE FACULTY SENATE Senate Document Number 4291S Date of Senate Approval 4/11/91 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Statement of Faculty Senate Action: FWDC Document #91S6 Whereas: Summer School salaries at UNCA have been stable for too many years and do not reflect annual changes in the cost of living; and, Whereas: UNCA summer school faculty members have been faithful in their duty in spite of a pay scale that some regard as insufficient; and, Whereas, a number of campuses within the UNC system pay summer school salaries on the basis of a percentage of the regular nine month salary; and, Whereas, schools using some variation of the percentage system include at least the campuses of Chapel Hill, NCSU, UNCG, UNCC, and ASU, BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED THAT: 1. The appropriate office at UNCA report to the Senate no later than November, 1991, the results of its study to convert UNCA salary compensation for summer teaching to a percentage basis of one's nine month salary; and, 2. That the Senate receive a report from the appropriate office every November thereafter which reviews compensation plans for the ensuing summer sessions.
