Statement of Faculty Senate Action:   
 
                          FWDC #91S2:  Parking Fees

Proposal: 

The Senate recommends that faculty and staff parking fees for full-time
employees be determined by charging 0.15% of employee's salary, scaled in
$10,000 increments as in the schedule below.  Part-time employees will be
charged at the same rate as full-time employees and adjunct faculty will be
charged $5.00.


Rationale:     
According to Eric Iovacchini, $16,355 was generated from full-time
faculty/staff at $40.00 each during the Fall 1990 semester. According 
to data provided by the personnel office, the overall average salary 
for this group is approximately $28,000.  To generate equal revenue 
would required $16,355/(28,000)(409) = .00143 of salary.

     The Faculty Welfare and Development Committee hopes this will better
     satisfy the equity principal raised in the Senate.
