Statement of Faculty Senate Action:   

        APC #1:  Catalog Changes in Environmental Studies

Effective Date:  Fall, 1991

ADDITION to the current catalog statements:  (NOTE: proposed
addition is in bold face and underlined).

1.  Add the following course description at the end of the        
    course offerings for Environmental Studies:

    171-6, 271-6, 371-6, 471-6 Special Topics in Environmental  
Studies (1-6)

Courses not otherwise included in the catalog listing but for
which there may be special needs.  May be repeated for credit
as often as permitted and as subject matter changes.
Prerequisite: permission of instructor.

EIS:  A.  Effect on major/minor --Courses taught 
          under "Special Topics" may be used to offer 
          courses for electives in established degree 
          tracks or requirements/electives for independent 
          degree tracks within the Environmental Studies 
          Program.
      B.  Effect on University requirements - none
      C.  Effect on other departments - none


Rationale:  This will permit us to teach courses not offered
in the catalog on a demand basis.
