At least 10 of the 20 hours must be taken at UNCA. The courses should be chosen to pursue some coherent theme or topic or area of interest. The minor program must be approved by the Director of Humanities. The following is a proposed guidance sheet for candidates for the minor in Humanities. The minor in Humanities comprises Humanities 224 and 414 and a further coherent interdisciplinary program of study of twelve hours. You must choose 4 courses from more than one department within the Humanities. "Courses in the Humanities" are, in the words of the National Endowment for the Humanities, history, philosophy, languages, linguistics, literature, archaeology, jurisprudence, the history, Page 2 theory, and criticism of the arts, ethics, comparative religion, and those aspects of the social sciences that employ historical or philosophical approaches.
