H.: A UNCA graduate designated by the UNCA Alumni Association Board shall sit with the University Teaching Council in order to solicit broad alumni participation in the nomination of the recipient of the Distinguished Teacher Award. The UNCA graduate shall be a voting member of the University Teaching Council for the selection of the recipient of the award. Effective date: Spring, 1990. Current rule: Existing University Teaching Council members select the recipient of the Distinguished Teacher Award. Rationale: Members of the University Teaching Council feel that alumni have worthwhile input into whether a faculty member has a distinguished teaching record since alumni are no longer under the pressure of receiving grades and have had the advantage of time in evaluating their college experience.
