Environmental Impact: No impact whatsoever e. Rationale: Those courses that are to be listed with prerequisite 100 or 210 are service/elective courses and shouldn't be burdened with unnecessary prerequisite barriers. Those courses that are to be listed with prerequisite 100 require the theoretical and methodogical background that is found in this course. Those courses that are to be listed with prerequisite: 100, 210 and 3 additional hours of Sociology are some of the department's more advanced courses and require at least this level of preparation. Sociology 450 is a relatively advanced course and needs to require Sociology 100, 210, but also 225. The latter course is our elementary theory course. Sociology 451 is our field research course and there is a real need to ensure an adequate background to carry out the research required. Therefore a prerequisite: Sociology 100, 210, 225 and 355 makes sense. Sociology 461 is an advanced course in the department's Social Welfare Program and should require the student to know something about social welfare systems and the extent and nature of poverty in modern society. Thus, it makes sense to require Sociology 100, 236 and 312. V. Combining Courses: a. Effective Date: Fall, 1990 b.
