Senate Doc #4689S Approved 4/27/89 Executive Committee Document #5 RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF CONTINUED HEALTH PROMOTION ACTIVITIES FUNDING On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students of the University of North Carolina at Asheville, the Faculty Senate hereby encourages continued financial support of Health Promotion Program activities benefiting the campus community. Health Promotion services, such as cholesterol testing at reduced cost, have made a positive contribution to the welfare of many UNCA community members. Educational and fitness programs sponsored by the Health Promotion Program have been consistently well attended, and often overbooked. It is clear that the University community recognizes and takes advantage of the opportunities for health enhancement provided by the Program. Health Promotion services are beneficial to individual faculty, staff, and students. More importantly, the services contribute significantly to the welfare and morale of the campus as a whole. The services are also a model for the implementation of the values UNCA attempts to promote through its General Education requirements in Health Promotion. In view of the above, the Faculty Senate strongly recommends that funding be made available for the continuation of Health Promotion activities and services.
