        Rationale:

        Most of these courses have been typically designed and scheduled

        for advanced majors who are often graduates of this or some other

        institution.  In the past those who wanted to major in classics

        here and who already held a B.A. have simply fulfilled requirements

        here to add another undergraduate degree, e.g. Gary Pressley, Mark

        Mueller, Stephen Israel or Walter Spencer.  With the prospect in

        view of matriculants who opt for the MLA program, the department

        would like to make its courses available to those who choose that

        option.
