Senate Doc #2789S Approved 3/9/89 APC Document #18 MLA Catalog Revisions Note: Catalog copy for the MLA program was approved by the Senate last year (1-28-88), though it was omitted from the 1988-89 catalog. This APC document revises the previously approved catalog description of the MLA program. A copy of the full entry for the MLA program has been placed on reserve in the library in the Senate file. Effective date: Fall 1989 Revisions: a) under "Required Courses" replace "Hum. 500" with "*Hum. 500". b) after the "Transfer Credit" section add "*To be taken at the first opportunity" c) in the course description of Hum. 500 replace "should be taken in the first year of graduate study" with "to be taken at the first opportunity". d) in the course description of Hum. 600 add "prerequisite: 18 hours of MLA coursework." Additional catalog copy revisions in MLA On page 45 under "POST-BACCALAUREATE STUDY": change "...have two options..." or read "...have three options..." On page 45 add a third option: 3. Master of Liberal Arts Degree The Master of Liberal Arts degree is a broadly interdisciplinary, liberal studies program at the graduate level. It focuses on the theme "The Human Condition," exploring human nature, human values and the quality of human life. This degree program is designed for college educated adults seeking intellectual stimulation and personal growth. See page xxx for a full description of the program and application procedures. Page 2 NOTE: I think the above changes can be considered "editorial," since they make no substantive additions to or changes in the MLA program, and since they merely restate or summarize MLA catalog copy which has already been approved.
