A-9-1. ------------------------------------------------------- RUTH & LEON FELDMAN PROFESSORSHIP FUND FWC Document #7, 1982-83 (p. A-9-1) Each year the full-time, ranked faculty of UNCA shall select two of its members for receipt of the Ruth and Leon Feldman Professorship Fund prize. This award will honor those faculty who have excelled in one or both of the following fields: 1. Service to the community and to UNCA; and, 2. Demonstrated competence in the areas of teaching, research and published writings, or creative writings in the arts. The selection of these two individuals shall be done in the following manner: I. Nomination The faculty shall be invited by the Senate to submit written and signed nominations by February 1 specifying the past accomplishments which recommend an individual's nomination. These nominations shall be in keeping with the terms of the Feldman fund. II. Review of Nominations Nominations shall be reviewed by the Ruth and Leon Feldman Professorship Fund Committee composed of six members drawn two each from the Faculty Welfare Committee, the University Research Council, and from the University Teaching Council. The respective committee chairmen shall consult so that each of the broad academic areas is represented on the review committee. Members of the review committee shall elect their own chairmen and serve one year terms from January 1 to December 31. In making its decision, the review committee shall be free to consult with students, community people, or others who may assist the committee in making its decision.
