        Statement of Faculty Senate Action:



        The Faculty Senate affirms its confidence in and commitment to the

        institutional Mission Statement as stated in the 1982 Report of the

        Institutional Self-Study of the University of North Carolina at

        Asheville (page 19) and amended at the November 10, 1988 Senate

        meeting and believes it would be unwise to amend the statement at

        this time.  We anticipate that the Mission Statement will be

        reviewed by the appropriate committee of the next institutional

        self-study for re-accreditation in 1990-92.
