Change MATH 105 to read: Intermediate Algebra (3) Algebraic expressions, linear and quadratic equations, systems of equations, inequalities, exponents and graphing. This coures does not count as part of the 120 hours required for graduation but does contribute to GPA. Page 2 2. Delete the prerequisites from MATH 155 so that it will read: MATH 155 Nature of Mathematics (4) Number patterns and inductive reasoning; sets, logic and deductive reasoning; introduction to mathematical modeling using concepts of algebra, geometry, counting, and probability. Prerequisite: Math 104 or satisfactory performance on the mathematics placement exam. 3. Delete the prerequisites from MATH 157 so that it will read: MATH 157 Structures of Mathematics I (3) An intuitive development of the real number system emphasizing set theory, arithmetic properties of the real numbers, topics from number theory, modular arithmetic, and analysis of basic algebraic structures. Prerequisites: 155 or departmental approval. 4. Change the prerequisites to MATH 191 so that it will read: MATH 191 Calculus I (4) An introduction to limits, continuity, derivatives, and integrals, with emphasis on the calculus of polynomial, rational, and algebraic functions; a balanced presentation of the theory and application of differential and integral calculus. Prerequisites: 163, 164 or, four years of high school mathematics including algebra, geometry and trigonometry and satisfactory performance on the mathematics placement exam. 5. Change the prerequisites to MATH 266 so that it will read. MATH 266 Matrix Algebra with Applications (3) Basic concepts of matrix algebra, the Gauss-Jordan method, determinants, and inverses; linear systems of equations; linear programming; and Markov chains.
