                      Department of Mathematics Catalog Changes





           1.  Delete MATH 102 and MATH 103.  Also delete these two courses

               where they are listed as prerequisites.



           2.  Delete Math 151



           3.  Change MATH 104 to read:



               MATH 104  Basic Mathematics (4)



               Arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percents, linear equations,

               exponents, polynomials, graphing and applications.  This

               course does not count as part of the 120 hours required for

               graduation but does contribute to GPA.

           4.  Change MATH 163 to read:



               MATH 163  College Algebra (3)



               A study of linear, quadratic, exponential, logarithmic,

               and rational functions and relations and their graphs; 

               topics related to the binomial theorem.  Prerequisites:

               105 or, two years of high school algebra and satisfactory

               performance on the mathematics placement exam.



           5.  Change MATH 164 to read:



               MATH 164  Trigonometry (3)



               Circular functions, identities, equations, complex

               numbers, polar coordinates, and applications.

               Prerequisites:  163 or three years of high school

               mathematics including algebra, geometry, and

               satisfactory performance on the mathematics placement

               exam.
