A. Altimus, Chairperson, Management Department SUBJECT: Changes to Industrial and Engineering Management Program We have discussed with Dr. Rackham the conflict which exists in the changes to the I&EM program as approved in the February 18 APC meeting; i.e., the Literature Department intends to drop LANG 261, Science and Technical Writing, from their program. We are accordingly dropping LANG 261 from our list of required courses, and we are placing LANG 351, Writing for Business and the Professions, into the list of approved MGMT/Cognate electives. Note that we are not simply replacing LANG 261 with LANG 351. Therefore, the total number of hours for the I&EM Page 2 program has been reduced to 131. The enclosed documents reflect these changes. We will be sending catalog copy to reflect the revised program as soon as it is ready. ________ _________ __ ___ __________ _ Proposed Revisions to the Industrial & Engineering Managment Program The proposed I&EM program differs from the current one in two major respects: (1) The total number of hours has been reduced from 137 to 131, and (2) The offerings in the Industrial Management and cognate areas have been increased, including two electives. __ _______ __ ____ ___ _________ ________ _______ ____ ___ We propose to drop the following required courses from the ________ program: ENGR 208 Dynamics 3 hours LANG 261 Science & Tech.
