The Faculty Senate Meeting for October 24, 1985 was called to order at 3:30 p.m. in RL 1. Senators present: Betts, Bennett, Combs, Coyne, Downes, Farzanegan, Hollingsworth, Henderson, Kormanik, Larson, Ruiz, Shoaf, Sweeney, Uldricks Others: Dr. Cochran, Dr. Nickless, Dr. Browning Dr. Ruiz brought the report from the Institutional Development Committee. He presented IDC Document #1 to the Senate for approval. This document called for altering the make-up of the University Planning Council by changing the non-voting administrator to a voting member of the Planning Council and including the University Librarian on the Council as a non-voting member. The two faculty members previously appointed by the Chancellor would be elected by the Senate under the provisions of this proposal. Dr. Betts moved the following amendment to IDC #1 to amend Senate Document #35 which created the Planning Council. Add to Document #35 on page 2 at the end of the section entitled "On-going Planning Process" the following statement: The Faculty Senate Executive Committee will review all Planning Council recommendations, reporting to the Senate and forwarding recommendations from the Planning Council for Senate action as deemed appropriate by the Executive Committee. Amend the sentence of this section which begins "The Council's recommendations. . ." to read as follows: The Council's recommendations will then be forwarded to the Executive Committee. Dr. Farzanegan seconded the motion. The amendment was approved and added to IDC Document #1. The document approved by the Senate as amended. (Senate Document #5) Dr. Farzanegan reported on the activities of the Faculty Welfare Committee. * The FWC presented a resolution that faculty be forgiven for parking violations if the faculty member was forced to violate parking regulations in order to meet class. Dr. Uldricks requested that the resolution be amended as follows. Add to the end of the first sentence: . . .except when parking violates safety regulations, handicapped parking, interferes with the folow of traffic, or when a valid parking sticker is not displayed. Dr. Farzanegan moved that the proposal be adopted by the Senate, Dr. Bennett seconded. The resolution was passed with the suggested revision. (Senate Document #6) * A resolution in appreciation of Dr. Dorr was brought before the Senate. Dr. Farzanegan moved the resolution, Dr. Ruiz seconded. The resolution passed unanimously.
