The Academic Policies Committee recommends the addition of the following 
statement on pages 44-45 of the Catalog under Major Fields of Concentration:

Currently enrolled students who have completed the requirements of a joint or 
double major will have that accomplishment noted on their transcripts 
regardless of the degree earned.  Students wishing two Baccalaureate degrees 
must earn the second degree purusant to the requirements for a Second 
Baccalaureate Degree.


Rationale:

In the past there has been a problem about a student double majoring when one 
major led to the BS degree and the other to a BA degree.  Under this proposal, 
both majors will be noted on the transcript.  Implicit in this proposal is the 
understanding that the student will receive one degree according to which 
major the student considers to be his or her primary major.
