                                Faculty Senate Minutes

                                     May 3, 1984







           The Faculty Senate met at 3:00 PM in Library 1 on Thursday,

           May 3, 1984, with Dr. Jeff Rackham presiding.



           Members Present:  Dr. Bennett, Dr. Betts, Dr. Combs,

           Dr. Comer, Dr. Coyne, Dr. Downes, Dr. Farzanegan,

           Dr. Grams, Dr. Greenawalt, Dr. Hollingsworth, Dr.

           Rackham, Dr. Ruiz, Dr. Seitz (alternate), Dr. Shoaf,

           Dr. Stern (alternate), Mr. Wengrow, and Dr. Williams.



           Members Absent:  None



           Visitors:  Dr. Cochran, Dr. Bruce.







           Dr. Rackham called the meeting to order.





            I.  Election of Officers to the Faculty Senate



                A.  Chairman of the Faculty Senate



                    Nominated by Farzanegan and seconded by Betts was

                    Dr. ALAN COMER.  

                    Nominated by Grams and seconded by Ruiz was 

                    Dr. PHYLLIS BETTS.



                    Wengrow moved and Farzanegan seconded to close the

                    nominations.  The motion was approved.



                    Dr. Comer was elected as Chairman of the Faculty

                    Senate.



                B.  1st Vice Chairman - Will serve as Chairman of APC



                    Nominated by Williams and seconded by Grams was

                    Mr. ARNOLD WENGROW.

                    Nominated by Betts and seconded by Wengrow was

                    Dr. ANTHONY COYNE.



                    Farzanegan moved and Grams seconded to close the

                    nominations.  The motion was approved.



                    Dr. Coyne was elected as the 1st Vice Chairman.

                C.  2nd Vice Chairman - Will serve as Chairman of IDC



                    Nominated by Bennett and seconded by Williams was

                    Dr. MICHAEL RUIZ.

                    Nominted by Farzanegan and seconded by Downes was

                    Dr. TIM HOLLINGSWORTH.



                    Comer moved and Williams seconded to close the

                    nominations.  The motion was approved.



                    Dr. Ruiz was elected as 2nd Vice Chairman.



                D.  Secretary - Will serve as Chairman of FWC



                    Nominated by Farzanegan and seconded by Comer was

                    Dr. BRUCE GREENAWALT.

                    Nominated by Coyne and seconded by Downes was

                    Dr. PHYLLIS BETTS.



                    Comer moved and Farzanegan seconded to close the

                    nominations.  The motion was approved.



                    Dr. Greenawalt was elected as Secretary of the

                    Faculty Senate.



           II.  New Business



                Rackham stated the members of the Faculty Senate would

                be receiving word from the Executive Committee as to

                the Faculty Senate committee on which they will be asked

                to serve.



           There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at

           3:25 PM.

           The Executive Committee met after the full meeting and

           reviewed committee choices, and after discussion and effort

           to balance each committee so as to reflect continuity and

           divisional membership, the following committees were appointed

           for 1984-85:
