Degree Restoration Effective: Immediately Replace: MAJOR IN PHYSICS - B.A. Degree (pp. 163-164) Program A - Preparation for Graduate School Program B - Teaching of Physics MAJOR IN PHYSICS WITH A CONCENTRATION IN COMPUTER SCIENCE - B.S. Degree with: MAJOR IN PHYSICS - B.S. Degree Program A - Preparation for Graduate School Program B - Secondary Teacher Certification in Physics Program C - Concentration in Computer Science Rationale: In light of the new degree program in computer science, the Department of Physics would like to restructure its degree programs. A degree in PHYSICS WITH A CONCENTRATION IN COMPUTER SCIENCE is no longer needed for students wishing to pursue a major in computer science. However, if this option were dropped, students planning to major in physics and work in industry (students not going to graduate school and not intending to teach high school) would have no option. In the new scheme, the degree is in PHYSICS (B.S.) for all programs, since a B.S. in more appropriate than a B.A. for a physics degree.
