           Recommendation:



           Computer Science should be established as an independent

           department separate from the Department of Mathematics.





           Rationale:



           UNCA has been granted the power to offer a degree in computer

           science, enrollment in computer science courses is good, and

           the teaching faculty is among the largest on campus.
